Dalmatians are a very special breed that demands a careful breeder choice. These dogs are prone to a number of diseases, deafness being among the most dangerous. It is not yet understood how deafness is linked to white coat color. However, white dogs suffer from this disorder more often than colored ones.
Some specialists argue that breeding of unilaterally Dalmatians increases the risk of unsound progeny. Their data is based on a research held in order to determine the causes of this congenital disease, and leading factors affecting its development.
Talk to the breeder. Try to find out whether the puppy's relatives experienced health problems.
